Every garment starts with a pattern you can trust
We stock sewing patterns, dressmaking fabrics and the haberdashery that holds it all together. Whether you are cutting your first skirt or drafting a tailored coat, you will find instructions that make sense and materials that behave the way they should.
Sewing Patterns began at a kitchen table covered in tissue paper, with a pattern whose instructions skipped three steps and a zip that never lay flat. We started sourcing the patterns and notions we actually wanted to sew with, then shared them. Everything we sell has been through that same test: would we finish the garment with it?
Today we work with independent pattern designers, mills and haberdashery suppliers who care about drafting, grainline and fibre content. We read the instructions before we list a pattern, and we handle the fabric before we describe its drape.
Four things we get right
Patterns that fit
Every pattern we stock comes with a full size range, finished garment measurements and a clear fabric recommendation. We flag the drafting block used, so you know where to adjust for your own shape.
Fabric described honestly
Weight in GSM, fibre content, width and how it actually drapes over the hand. We list what a fabric suits and what it does not, because a crisp cotton will never make a bias-cut slip.
Notions that last
Thread, interfacing, zips, buttons and shears chosen for the job rather than the price point. Good interfacing outlives the garment; cheap interfacing bubbles after the first wash.
Help at the tricky part
Set-in sleeves, welt pockets, invisible zips: we answer questions about the makes we sell. Send a photo of where you are stuck and we will talk you through the next step.
From pattern to finished garment
Four steps from choosing a make to wearing it. Order pattern, fabric and notions together and everything arrives in one parcel.
Choose your pattern and check the size chart against your measurements.
Pick a fabric from the recommendations listed on the pattern page.
Add the notions: thread, interfacing, zip, buttons, elastic.
Cut, sew, and message us if a step needs unpicking.
Sewers, not just sellers
The Sewing Patterns team is small and everyone here sews. Between us we cover dressmaking, tailoring, pattern drafting and knits, which is why product descriptions read like advice rather than a spec sheet.
We make the patterns we sell, in the fabrics we sell, and we say so when something runs short in the body or sits tight across the shoulder. That feedback goes straight into the listing.
